Philadelphia: Hoag, Wade & Co. Albert J. Wright, Printer 1878. First Edition. Hardcover. Oversize [about 11.25" x 14"] volume with bevelled board edges, [originally bound in] dark brown cloth with gold gilt lettering/decoration/rules plus additional decoration in blind, with a leather spine; 370 pages, all edges gilt, illustrated. Poor reading/filler copy only the entire spine is missing, the front board and the first several interior pages are detached but present, and it appears that the original endpapers may have been replaced at some point in the past; the board edges are heavily worn/frayed with some corner chipping, some of the interior pages---including a few of the illustrations---are worn, torn and/or chipped.
