Vepery: D.P.L.C Connor of the Christian Knowledge Society's Press...to be had of Messrs. Franck and Co., 1852. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Complete in two volumes. Vol. I: xiii, 275pp; Vol. II: xii, 257pp + lvxi pages of Notes. Both volumes are inscribed in ink on the reverse of the half-title page "From my father Elphinstone Begbie". Stapled to the reverse of the title pages of Volume I is a 2-page letter bearing the logo of the Royal Artillery Office, Madras Command dated 24 July 1899 addressed to "My dear General", and a second letter from Fort St, George S. India, also addressed to General Begbie. Bound in 3/4 leather over boards, with 4 raised bands and gilt lines to the spines. A very nice example of the scarce first edition. .
