About This Item

London: Cambridge University Press, 1929. Very Good +. The vast and imposing structure of modern science is perhaps the greatest triumph of the human mind. But the story of its origin, its development and its achievements is one of the least known parts of its history, and has hardly yet found its way into general literature. Historians treat of war, of politics, of economics; but of growth of those activities which have revealed the individual atom and opened to our vision the depths of space, which have revolutionised philosophic thought and given us the means of advancing our material welfare to a level beyiond the dreams of former ages, most of them tell us little or nothing. The author began the studies of which this volume is the outcome in an attempt to clarify his own ideas on the all-important subjects with which it deals and hopes the reader may find his labours useful. Cloth bound; slight marking to front cover and fading to spine, bumped corners. some foxing to inside pages but clean pages throughout and tight binding.heavy book so post and packing to be adjusted accordingly.
