American Indian; B&W Illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 629 pages; History of the Old Cheraws: Containing an Account of the Aborigines of the Pedee, The First White Settlements, Their Subsequent Progress, Civil Changes, the Struggle of the Revolution, and Growth of the Country Afterward, Extending from About A. D. 1730 to 1810 with Notice of Families and Sketches of Individuals . Bound in black cloth with gilt lettering to spine, this antique volume is a scarce local history relating to the Pee Dee region of South Carolina, composed of the northeastern counties of the state. This is an expanded version of the 1867 first edition with added illustrations and 28 maps along with addenda. The work is illustrated with many photographic plates and numerous area maps. The volume shows light external age/wear, and is solidly bound with clean pages. Occasional pencil marking. The book measures approximately 6 1/2" x 9 1/2". There is a scrape to edge of last 50 leaves to a width and depth of 1/64". .
