Boston: Hilliard, Gray, and Co., 1835. 1st. Hardcover. Bound in half leather with marbled boards. Contains frontispiece map of Nantucket drawn by William Coffin and illustration of "spermaceti" whale. Exterior of leather on front hinge is split, but functionally the binding remains intact, secure, and functional. Wear to extremities, corners through leather, and chip to half of head of spine. Front free endpaper, frontispiece, and title page are secured to binding and front cover, but split at spine from remainder of book. Bottom 1 1/2 inches of title page is split from spine. Otherwise the text block as a whole is tight, bright, and clean, with very minimal foxing here and there. 4 1/2 x 7 1/4 inches. 300 pages plus advertisements at rear.
