About This Item

U S A: The Wertheim Committee on Industrial Relations. Hardback. First Edition. History of the Lithographers Union. Previous owners initials to inside cover. Wear and a couple of tears to edge of D/J. Some marks to back D/J. This detailed research paid off handsomely in a colourful story of the union's beginnings and its remarkable progress up to the present day. This book describes the growth and development of the union in enough detail for both members and outsiders to understand how history has shaped its present structure and attitude. The author has shown how great personalities like the ALA's former President Andrew Kennedy and former Vice-President Robert Bruck left their mark on the union, how the technological developments such as the offset press shaped the problems the union was to face, how an ideology such as the socialist emphasis formed the governmental structure of the union, while at the same time giving to economic forces the stress which they rightfully deserve. Illustrations. 320 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions, Reference books ,and all types of Academic Literature.) . Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition. 1963.
