About This Item

Philadelphia: Everts & Peck. Good+. 1883. First Edition. Hardcover. Maps; engravings; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 1101 pages; Massive 4to HC in original cloth boards with a basic heavy leather rebacking. 1st edition. Contents bright and neat; all folding maps, lithographed views and engraved portraits present and in attractive condition. Some tissue guards chipped or missing. The heavy leather repair/rebacking is too stiff for the joints and there is separation between endpages at front and rear with the front split nearly complete. A basic rebacking with more pliable leather or cloth would be deisrable, but on balancethe contents are very well preserved. Al edges gilt. Light to moderate rubbing an skinning to the original leather corners. Prior ownership of prominent Lancastrian, J. Guy Eshleman, with his ink stamp to the front endpage. The authoritative Lancaster County history. G++ ... Oversize book may require additional charges for expedited or international shipping. .
