Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. including all the fearful record, the breaking of the South Fork Dam, The sweeping out of the Conemaugh Valley, The Overthrow of Johntown, The massing of the wreck at the Railroad Bridge, Escapes, Rescues, Searches, for survivors and the dead, relief organisations, stupendous charities, etc etc. with full accounts also of the destruction of the Susquehanna and Juniata Rivers, and the Bald Eagle Creek. Just about good. 1st printing. hardback original. In just about good condition. Brown buckram boards which are rubbed to edges and bumped to corners. Boards are marked, and black tooled titles have faded. Front and rear hinges cracked and are a little shaky but binding remains secure. Owners name to front paste down. Pages faded with occasional marks. A good reading copy only. 518pp 19cm x 13cm approx. Illustrated with black and white photographs. A history of the devastating floods of the Summer of 1889 when the South Fork Reservoir burst, flooding the Conemaugh Valley and washing out its little villages before decending on Johnstown Pennsylvania causing catastrophic damage.
