About This Item
A complete first edition, three volume set of the classic (and brilliant) summary of all the sciences as of 1837. Mentions Faraday, Cuvier, Lyle, and hundreds of others. Darwin had just returned on the Beagle in 1837 - so Pre-Darwin. Original calf bindings, all tight. Marbled inside covers and all text block edges. Original (19th century?) owners' signature in ink on all three title pages. Otherwise unmarked throughout. Foxing on end papers only (caused by adjacent marbling?). All text blocks complete and in very good condition.
