About This Item
1971 hardcover as pictured. Considered by some to be the archetype of today's graphic novels, this is a devastating satirical look at the "brutality and savagery of Russian history." With an introduction by Richard Pipes that sets the works in the context of Dore's times and our own. Binding is firm. Blue boards with gold stamping show light edge wear with some discoloration from tape used to mend dust jacket along top edge. Endpapers are lightly mottled. Text appears clean and unmarked. Includes hundreds of b&w illustrations by Dore with accompanying historical vignettes. Dust jacket is worn with multiple chips and tears at edges, some repaired with tape.
