Elsevier, Amsterdam, Printed in Holland. FIRST EDITION. Green cloth boards, gilt spine titles, gilt front titles and insignia. Fold out color map of English Channel and Normandy in front, fold-out color map of Holland in back. 4to. 26cm, 302p., colour frontis , 26 plates (81 photos & drawings), 10 text maps, appendices. Text pages are toned due to wartime standard paper; all plates remain clean and bright. There are no markings, tears or folds. This extremely rare book is in collector's condition. A scarce Canadian regimental history published in limited numbers at the end of World War Two. The 15th Field Regiment served in North-West Europe with the 4th Canadian Armoured Division, fighting in Caen, Falaise, the Scheldt, Hochwald and Germany. The book includes a roll of honour, casualty list, honours & awards, and a nominal roll of personnel of the 15th on embarkation for France, July 1944.

Book has an errata sheet slipped in. It has 8 maps (8 plates) all perfect, all numbered, all protected by a tiussue in which is printed in red the plate number and title, and all dated betwen 1768 and 1792. The book has no writing inside, no dirt, no defects. It is in near fine condition for its age,but has a piece of paper strip missing from top of spine. I highlight that in one of the scans.
The author has signed "from C.F.Newcombe" at the top of the front cover, gifting the book. Newcombe as a noted naturalist and a volunteer at the Provincial Library.

Amsterdam: Elsevier, 1945. 1st . Hardcover. Good. Association copy, with signature, service number and WWII duty dates of a member of the regiment. The member is mentioned in the book twice (once in the wounded list) and is in one of the photos. This is the first printing of the book. 303 pp., folding maps with colour in front and rear, photo plates, illustrations, maps, appendices, etc., oversized format (about 10.5" X 7.5") in green cloth, gilt titles/decorations. A fragile production, the front and rear inner hinges are cracking but holding, paper is brittle, browning and soiled in places, with some minor edge-chips. The cloth is worn through at the tips and faded, with the gilt titles faint but still legible. The original owner, a bombardier, has made a few marks in the text related to members with whom he fought. An interesting copy.
