Smollett, bound in full straight grain morocco. The regent's Edition. Sixteen volumes. Includes the complete ten volume set of David Hume's works and the complete six volume set of T. Smollett's works. Bound in full straight grain morocco. Illustrated with a portrait monochrome frontispiece to Volume I. This set includes sixteen volumes of historical works started by David Hume, a Scottish philosopher and historian, and then continued by T. Smollett. The works cover the history of England from the invasion of Julius Caesar to the Revolution in 1688, and then continued to the Death of George the Second by Smollett. Hume's history became a bestseller and the standard history book of England from his era. Bound in full straight grain morocco. Externally generally smart with fading to the spines and extremities, rubbing to the extremities and joints, marks to the boards, bumping to the extremities of the boards, closed tears to the head of the spine with back strip lifting to volumes II, III, V, VIII and XV with loss to the leather to the head of the spine to volumes VI and XVI. A small label to the front board to volume XI. Front joint starting to Volume XII. Bookplate belonging to a 'Joseline Grove' to the front free endpapers with light offsetting to the extremities and scattered spotting. Internally firmly bound with lightly age toned pages and occasional spotting. Good
