Iconic history of the ill-fated Donner Party of California-bound pioneers who became trapped in the Sierra Nevada mountains during the winter of 1846-1847. 48 of 87 members of the party survived. C. F. McGlashan was a journalist and owner of the Truckee Republican newspaper. He interviewed and corresponded with survivors of the Party and much of his book is related as first-person narrative.
