About This Item
Edinburgh Bell and Bradfute, Peter Hill, Silvester Doig, A. Stirling, and John Ogle, 1811 Hardcover books, A New edition 1811 in a twelve volume set . Illustrated with two maps by Thos. Kitchin of the Eastern and Western parts of the Roman Empire. Each book is bound in half-leather with decorated gilt panels to spine. The title panel and Volume Number panel in gilt on black. Marbled paper covered boards with brown endpapers. Each book carries the armorial bookplate of John James Lecky. Lecky was born in 1799 and was magistrate and deputy lieutenant of County Carlow where he served as High Sheriff in 1828. The books and contents are Very Good with light foxing in places. The maps are Very Good with the odd short closed tear to edges and in places poorly folded. Volume IV lacks it's Volume Number . The Bindings are firm and tight. There is some rubbing to covers as you would expect for books over 200 years old but they still have a pleasing antiquarian appearance. Pictures available.
