New York: John C. Totten, 1814. First Edition. Full leather. Fair. Two volumes in one. 12mo. [1], viii, 9-300pp.; 300pp. Front portrait of Dow at age 36. Full brown calf binding with gilt stamped brown leather label on spine. Front board detached. Moderate toning and scattered foxing to contents. Leather is edge worn. Previous owner book plate of John Townsend, Baltimore 1830 on front paste down. The second volume is titled "All the Polemical Works of Lorenzo, Published by John C. Totten 1814. Corrected and improved by the author. The appendix titled "A Journey of Life by Peggy Dow is not included in this copy. At the bottom of page 359 in the appendix the publisher states, "the Appendix by Peggy Dow, mentioned in the Proposals, is in a separate volume - this being so much more than was contemplated - though both for the same price to subscribers, according to the statement." Fair only.
