Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 1971. 1st reprint (1st-1970) . Grey Cloth. Fine/Good-VG. 16 Cms x 23 Cms. xi+661, 5 ills on 2 pp.plates ex-pagination; internally clean, tight and unmarked in clean unworn covers; double-front clipped jacket has several edge rubbings and nicks (now internally closed), front clean but back has two brown spots, a few other small marks and edge tanning, will add protective sleeve when ordered; Creighton's 'The Plague in India' , first given as a lecture to the Society of Arts in May 1905, was originally printed in the Journal of the Society of Arts, London, Vol.LIII in June that year but this 'reprinted with author's corrections', paginated 309-338 and is actually a Smithsonian Society Reports offprint, though this not mentioned here (this now slipped in in film-fronted sleeve). The books covers the history of the plague in Britain from its first appearance in 1348 through to the end of the Seventeenth Century.
