Edinburgh: William Blackwood and Sons, 1953. 287 pp, 9 15/16" H - red cloth with gold lettering on spine, gold insignia on front board. B&w photographs, reproductions, maps/battle plans. "This is the tale of an infantryman whose weapon was essentially a sword, although that sword was fixed on the end of a rifle and designated a bayonet. It is the tale of a Scottish infantryman, who was essentially a clansman with all the glorious traditions, estimable prejudices, and fortunate relationships of a clansman. In this particular tale each clan was a regiment with its own chief and its own particular significance of territory. Clan jealousy and clan pride formed the separate strength of each unit, and, by their very divisions, made of all the clans that Unity known as the 51st Highland Division - ." Very light browning to pages and endpapers, light cigarette odour, browning to edges of text block, light waviness to top of textblock, light edge wear, wrinkling at top/bottom of spine, light lean to the spine, a few light soiling marks on the boards, a few small light stains on the bottom of the text block.. Not Signed. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good+/No Jacket.
