London: Jarrold & Sons, 1899. 1st Edition . Good Plus. 9 x 11 inches (22.5 x 28 cm). Signed by Author. Red cloth binding. Some creasing and wear to spine. Front board has slight bubbling to the cloth and a small mark. Bump to outer edge of rear board. Browning and bubbling to pastedown endpapers. Some browning and foxing to pages. Illustrated. Inscribed by the author to front pastedown endpaper: 'The Earl of Kimberley with compliments of the author. C. Harvey, March 29th 1899.' The recipient was John Wodehouse, 1st Earl of Kimberley, Liberal politician who served as Foreign Secretary, Secretary of State for India, Secretary of State of the Colonies and various other positions between 1852 and 1895. With the Kimberley bookplate below the author's inscription. Overall condition is Good Plus. Please Note: This is a heavy item and international postage will be more than the standard rate.
