London: Printed by H. M. and sold by T. Norris, et al., 1721. Hardcover. Very good. Volume VI of the Register. 348,(6) pp. followed by 'The Chronological DIary for the Year 1721', 44pp. 19th century half calf. Spine in six compartments, brown leather lettering label, marbled paper boards. The front blank has some ink notes dated 1737, Light staining throughout, edges and corners and spine rubbed, else a very good copy.


Pages 246-256 contain what is considered the most detailed account of pirates to appear in a periodical to date, and include the exploits of Bartholomew Roberts (Black Bart) in the Caribbean. Bart is considered one of the most successful of pirates, and invented his own PIrate Code as well as an early variant of the skull and crossbones flag.
