Thick small 4to., 7 1/2" x 9 1/2", xxxi+632pp., illus. color frontis and 14 full-page tissue guarded color plates, 33 full-page photogravure plates, 2 photographic plates and 9 maps & plans (some folding). Bound in original quarter yellow and blue cloth, gilt titles and crests, all edge gilt. Some wear to the cloth on lower edge of front cover, small spot of wear on rear edge and one upper tip, some dulling/soil to the yellow cloth, Society of Writers to His Majesty's Signet bookplate on pastedown. Near fine, crisp copy - internally clean, bright, no foxing. . 1st. Hard. Near Fine/No Jacket. 4to.
