Hogg..., 1836. 12mo. pp. x, 99, [i], with wood-engraved frontispiece and a number of text illustrations, light spotting at intervals; publisher’s cloth, title lettered direct to upper cover, upper joint renewed, wear to corners; ownership signature of John Garlo to front pastedown. Smith wrote a number of books on London history, including ‘A topographical and historical account of the Parish of St. Mary-le-bone’ (1833), in which he mentions that he was born in Marylebone, and books on the Yeomen of the Guard and Chelsea Hospital (1851 and 1852).
