Doubleday Australia Pty. Limited, Lane Cove, New South Wales, 1983. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Good. 160 pages, bibliography, acknowledgements and index. Illustrated endpapers, being a street map of early Sydney. The text is illustrated with 120 paintings and sketches, both coloured and black and white, from various illustrators of early Sydney town. Pale green coloured boards with a small illustration, in white, of a postal worker and his horse in the lower right-hand corner of the front panel with white writing on spine. Slight rubbing to the head and to the heel of the spine along with minor bumping. Heavy bumping to the book corners and shelfwear to the lower book ages. Dust marks to the top paper edge and there are a few marks to the boards. Illustrated dustwrapper, being a reproduction of a watercolour by Conrad Martens " Circular Quay, 1853 ", with olive green background with black writing on the front panel and spine. Dustwrapper is slightly rubbed at the corners and to the head and to the heel of the spine. A suspicion of fading has also occurred to the top edge of the rear dustwrapper panel. The back fold over panel has been somewhat crumpled. The first 100 years of Sydney as seen by its artists, both professional and amateur. This is the first Australian edition.
