Second volume with some foxing, offsetting to text, apparently the set scarcely opened with interior contents fresh and clean overall. This rare book is in very good condition. Provides photos and narrative of beautiful women in their national dress, beginning with Alsace and ending with China. Illustrated with 32 black & white original photos tipped on to stiff board pages Pages are not numbered and book is not dated. We believe this is a first edition from the 1870's, probably 1875. The book is in excellent condition for its age. The cover and spine still have good gilding on the titles and designs. The spine and binding is in good condition, though there is a tear along the spine about three inches from the bottom and is loosely attached to binding along the right side (of the spine). pages are in excellent condiThere is shelf wear and some chipping at corners and along edges of the covers. We found two small tears: one at the bottom corner of the first fly-leaf page and the other on the next to last fly-leaf page. There is also a slight split along the bottom left of the title page.
