London: Ackermann & Co., 1838. First edition. Prout was a watercolorist who was painter for George IV and Queen Victoria. He taught students and published instructional books, but also made extra cash by doing maritime scenes for a London print seller. Later he specialized in architectural paintings, also represented here. Almost all the plates are foxed, but the foxing does not intrude too badly on the sepia tone of the lithographs. First edition. Text clean except for foxing. Bound in original cloth with backstrip quite worn.. Folio, 38 cm. (iv), 16, (2), 20 sepia-toned lithographed plates, each with multiple images and a page of text before or after the plate. Rectos of the text leaves are blank.
