About This Item

This is a complete copy---with a binding repair to be made---of a rare piece of Chicago's North Shore history.  It contains the plans and rationale of famed landscape architect Thomas Hawkes as he completed his realization of the scenic route, old Highway 42, sometimes known as "Snake Hill"---a park experience literally built around the bends of Sheridan road.  Also expands on his vision of natural scenery incorporated into landscaping, in preference to the ornate Versailles approach.  An exceptional rarity of Chicago history.

Photos on request.
