About This Item

A GENUINE DATE STAMPED 1913 EDITION THAT IS NOW 110 YEARS OLD, BOUND IN SUFFOLK, ENGLAND
THE ALL-SEEING, ANGELS, SPIRITUALITY, DREAMS, HEAVEN, MYSTICISM, THE SOUL, THE LORDS OF SHADOW, THE LOVE CHANT, THE MOON SONG OF CATHAL, THE EVILS OF THE NIGHT, THE DEATH DANCE, THE MOON CHILD, & MUCH MORE

"None but God, and I know what is in my heart."

"When the west wind blows, I see the moon-lances gleam, Where the host of Faerie flows athwart the Hills of Dream. And a strange song I have heard by a shadowy stream, and the singing of a snow-white bird on the Hills of Dream."

This is a mystical collection of Victorian-era writings that I would call... "hauntingly beautiful." While some works are incredibly beautiful and hopeful, I must send a word to the wise and inform you that some are VERY dark. This is what makes this such an incredible compendium; its words are brutally honest and magnificently written. The rough cut page ends only add to the ambiance of this mysterious collection of victorian literature. This edition, printed in 1913, contains some additional content and writings not found in early editions. In my opinion, this printing has a much more beautiful cover than its earlier predecessors. There is no other book like this, and there will never be.

"I saw the weaver of dream, an immortal star-eyed silence; And the weaver of death, a lovely dusk with a heart of hidden flame; And each wove with shuttles of beauty, wonder, and mystery."

William Sharp (12 September 1855 – 12 December 1905) was a Scottish writer of poetry and literary biography in particular, who from 1893 also wrote as Fiona Macleod, a pseudonym kept almost secret during his lifetime. He was also an editor of the poetry of Ossian, Walter Scott, Matthew Arnold, Algernon Charles Swinburne, and Eugene Lee-Hamilton.

The overall condition of this book is good despite being printed well over 100 years ago. The front cover displays a gold motif still shining after a century. The rear cover is also lovely, with normal shelf wear and age. The spine has some rubbing, fading, and shelf use. However, the pages are well preserved and have some regular natural age toning. For a book printed in 1913, it has been very well preserved.

Biography
Sharp was born in Paisley and educated at Glasgow Academy and the University of Glasgow, which he attended from 1871–1872 without completing a degree. In 1872 he contracted typhoid. During 1874–5, he worked in a Glasgow law office. His health broke down in 1876, and he was sent on a voyage to Australia. In 1878 he took a position in a bank in London.
