About This Item
London: Hamish Hamilton, 1973. First Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. The interior of the book is crisp and clean, showing no marks or previous use. The navy covers are fresh, with just a touch of wear at tips and corners. The gilt spine lettering is still bright. The dusj jacket is not price-clipped, and looks almost new. A lovely copy. The attached scan gives a better idea of condition. Synopsis: "Barbara, Barry and Rupert are an oddly assorted trio to end up alone on a deserted island, with no boat, no radio and no means of escape. For the storm which wrecked spoilt, willful Barbara's yacht (or rather her millionaire father's yacht), and injured Barry's leg, has cast them upon an island where there are curious installations apparently abandoned which tick and click in an ominous way. Escape is therefore vital, and it is the despised Rupert who concocts a plan which on the face of it seems impossible and highly dangerous, and moreover requires the co-operation of all three.
