About This Item
Hardcover edition, published by Grosset & Dunlap, 1938. No dust jacket. Dated as 1938, however, from 1938 to 1950 Loring's novels were published by Little, Brown, so this is a reprint edition from when her work was published by Grosset, starting in 1960. The story of Constance Trent, a young woman born in England, but entrusted with an American family since her abandonment by her Mother and death of her Father. Now a solicitor appears to bring her back to England to return the long lost granddaughter as heir of Major General Lord Valdemere Trent Gowen of Trent Towers. Bright green cloth covered boards, with the author name and title imprinted on the spine and within a stylized red border on the front board. Boards are flat, and the corners are not bumped. Minor dots of edge wear to the boards. There is a hand written date on the top corner of the first flyleaf - '1965', but no further writing besides that. Edges of the text block show age appropriate age tanning, typical for these editions considering the type of paper stock used. No former ownership marks, not a library discard. Binding is tight and square. The attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory.

Let us know, we'd love to hear from you! Do you want to see a photo of a book before you order it ? We try to post as many photos as possbiel, but sometimes there will be a item in inventory that does not show a photo here. So feel free to ask for photos, we don't mind at all. We package all of our orders carefully either in a box that has been designed to ship books, or in a padded envelope. We want to make sure you receive your order in the best possible condition! Our preferred shipping method is USPS Media Mail. Recently, the USPS has added tracking to Media Mail , which has been a great addition to this service. If you do choose to have your order shipped "Expedited", my shipping cost may seem higher than expected. Some of our books are large format hardcovers that can cost quite a bit when shipped expedited. So I would like to make sure that I can cover the cost upfront. However, if the actual cost of expedited shipping is less than the charge, I will refund the difference!
