Chicago: Reilly & Britton [1909]. 12mo, 208pp. Olive cloth with color pictorial label affixed to front and spine stamped in gilt; t.e.g. Two-color pictorial endpapers; 14 two-color plates and decorations in green around edges of every page. Light rubbing to spine ends and corners, as well as cover label, a few small spots to fore-edge of pages, else a clean, tight copy.

First edition thus. A beautifully illustrated edition of Longfellow's The Song of Hiawatha. Neill's illustrations capture the power and beauty of this lyric epic. This was done while during the period he illustrated The Road to Oz and The Emerald City of Oz, considered by many to be his most beautifully illustrated Oz books.
