London: William Heinemann, 1954. 5th or later Edition 5th or later Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Sixth edition, first printing. In turquoise cloth boards, blind stamped lettering for title, very slightly darkened around edges, but very good tight, straight copy. Spine tight, lettering in gilt. Endpapers clean, name and date in ink on front free endpaper. Cut edges lightly tanned. Text block clean, with many black and white illustrations and photographs and a few in colour. Dust jacket orange, black lettering, grubby, slightly chipped edges.

Contains black and white in-text illustrations. Pages and binding are presentable with no major defects. Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking. Overall a good condition item. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some light marking and sunning. Unclipped jacket has moderate edge wear with chips, tears and creasing. Light sunning to spine and edges. Scuffed marks to surfaces.
