New York and London: Harper & Brothers Publishers, 1901. Literary criticism by the dean of American letters, Very Good copies of the First Edition. Two volumes, illustrated by H.C. Christy and others. Green cloth bindings with titling in red and gilt on the front cover, gilt on the spine. Clean texts. Volume One is vi, 239 pages; contains 19 essays, illustrated with a frontis and 40 others within. Volume Two is vi, 274 pages, with a one-page advert in the rear; contains another 19 essays, with a frontis illustration and 27 others within. Top-edge is gilt; others are rough-cut. Bumped corners and light rubbing to the margins. The rear gutter of Volume One has split; holding, but could use some reinforcement.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
