London and Cambridge: Macmillan and Co.,, 1866. Presentation copy from publisher First edition, presentation copy from the publisher, inscribed "from the publisher" on the half-title. Provenance: With the bookplate to pastedowns of Albert Henry Wiggin (1868-1951), American banker and collector, and the loose bookplates of Lynde Selden. Two volumes, octavo. Original red cloth, spines lettered in gilt. Housed in a custom red cloth box. Cloth a little marked, spines and book block of vol. II repaired, bookplate adhesive running through and lightly discolouring half-titles, pages largely unopened. A good copy. Sadleir, XIX Century Fiction, 1338; Wolff II, 3807.
