S.W.Partridge & Co. Ltd.; Undated. Hardcover no dust jacket. Hereward the Wake: Last of the English is a 1866 novel by Charles Kingsley. It tells the story of Hereward, a historical Anglo-Saxon figure who led resistance against the Normans from a base in Ely surrounded by fen land.
Blue decorated cloth covered boards. Corners bumped and rubbed. Some rubbing to guttering. Spine wear evident to top and bottom. Prize plate to FFEP dated June 1918. Age related foxing to first and last end papers. Pages tanned with age. Six illustrations by Wal Paget. Binding good, very slightly loose to bottom.
