About This Item
George Herbert, who died in February 1633 was born into an aristocratic family in 1593. Having wrote poems and prose throughout his life, as he neared death he sent them to a friend stating "If they might turn to the advantage of any dejected soul". Fortunately, the friend saw value in them, preserving not only hymns, but some 150 poems.
This green leather bound book is in very good condition with tight bindings.
There is a book plate inserted (see photo) that dates back to 1882 presented by the Diocese of Chester
