London: Jonathan Cape. 1929. First Edition. VG with light rubbing to spinal ends and corners, spine faded, text clean, binding solid. ; 8vo, green cloth, 543pp. , index, frontispiece portrait of Henry VIII, as well as other portrait illustrations. Laid in, is a handwritten letter signed with the initials, FH (Francis Hackett, the author) . The letter is dated 17 Sept. 1919, and the letterhead is from The New Republic, 421 West 21st St. , New York City. On the letter are some sketches of a man engaged in various activities. Not certain if these are original sketches by the author, or printed on the stationery. .
