Octavo (21.75cm); black cloth, with titling and decorations stamped in red and silver on spine and front panel; black topstain; dustjacket; [viii],[3],4-278,[2]pp. Hint of foxing to endpapers and right edge of textblock, else Near Fine in a very Near Fine dustjacket, unclipped (priced $4.95), with only a bit of trivial external wear to note. Thompson's first book, chronicling his year riding with the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club and other motorcycle gangs - an "experiment" that ended when he was beaten nearly to death by a group of Angels. Written in Thompson's no-holds-barred style, and filled with drugs, sex, and violence, it remains one of the few candid books offering unprecedented access and insight into biker culture.
