London: Chapman and Hall, 1910. [Prolific and well-known, Bennett was scorned by the modernists, but his work has been re-evaluated in recent years. This is a Good only copy of a scarce work; not a crime title but author listed in Hubin, [p. 30] for his mysteries. Blue cloth binding, titled in black on the spine and front cover; ruled on the front. clean text; 316 pages. Bookplate of W.H. Smith's lending library on the front paste-down, with two previous-owner names as well. Covers show wear and soiling; light bumping; spine has darkened to a brown colour, although titling is still nicely readable. The dustwrapper is Fine; however, it is not original; it is a copy made from a later version (1912). In an archival plastic protector.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
