Foreword by Chapple (preceded by introductory letter by Chapple, G. W. Chadwick and Victor Herbert 'for the committee'); glossary of musical terms and 2 indexes at rear. Provenance: From the library of noted American songwriter Gus Kahn, with his holograph signature in black ink on front free endpaper. Fairly tight copy, with a great provenance. Kahn (1886-1941), German-born and American-adopted musician, songwriter and lyricist, most famous for his contributions to Hollywood motion picture scores (from 1933 on); compositions include 'It Had to Be You', 'I'll See You In My Dreams', 'Side by Side', 'Makin' Whoopee!', etc.Over 25 b/w Photographs; Musical Examples.
