About This Item
London: Tor / Macmillan, 2005. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine/Fine. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. 1st UK Edition, unclipped dust jacket, no inscription, very clean throughout. A compelling and unpredictable novel by one of America's most honoured storytellers. Jamie, an orphan and a bastard, grew up tough enough to handle almost anything. He survived foreign prisons, smugglers, pirates, gun runners and shark attacks. But what he found in the quiet town of Hawkes Harbor is enough to drive him insane and change his life forever
Reviews
On Oct 17 2010, Darwido said:
Hawkes Harbor had a very slow build up. I really wasn't impressed when I first started reading the story. It made sense, but it dragged on. I'm glad I stuck with it, though, because it really was an original take on the traditional vampire tale. If you take the time to get to the middle of the book, you will be rewarded. The pace picks up and everything falls into place. I can't give it more than three stars because the first half of the novel really dragged, for that I can't see giving it four stars. If I could rate he book as the first half and second half seperately, though, I'd give the first half two stars and the second half four stars. The characters were excelently crafted. The scenery was easy to visualize. I would recommend reading it, but warn you that it may be hard to get through the first half. Do it. You will be rewarded.
