Boards lightly worn along edges with some minor fraying to crown; spine sunned; gilt along spine dulled and at front rubbed. Binding sound. Ghost of a bookplate to front pastedown. Ownership inscription of Mrs. Sidney M. Bloss to front free endpaper and title page and pages otherwise unmarked.
Biography of the last monarch of the Kingdom of Hawai'i, published five years after the kingdom's overthrow and the same year Hawai'i was annexed by the United States. Includes history of the monarchy, the story of Liliʻuokalani's trial and imprisonment, and stories of her interactions and negotiations with Presidents Grover Cleveland and William McKinley. Scarce in retail at time of this writing in February 2023.
