London: John Camden Hootten, Picadilly, 1866. First edition. Hardcover. fair. 8vo. 164pp. Gilt stamped red cloth with gilt title to spine. Embossed to back cover. One-inch tear near midsection along spine. Head and tail of spine and corners bumped and worn. Slight chipping to head and tail of spine. Heavy staining and discoloration to boards. Wear to edges. Hinges starting. Inscribed by previous owner to front end paper. Tissue guarded frontispiece. Osborne I, 349: "Three stories told to the chronicler and the artist, Monsieur G.: "The astonishing adventures of three ancient mariners"; "Brass brothers of Bristol: their travels and perils"; "The crocodile-witch". Beautifully illustrated with 36 b/w illustrations, drawn on wood, by Ernest Griset. At the back of the book, 16 pp. of advertisements for "Popular and Interesting Books Published by John Camden Hootten. Binding in poor, interior in good condition.
