About This Item
London: Bloomsbury, 1997. First Edition. Near Fine. First edition, first printing, softcover issue of the first Harry Potter book. Bound in publisher's original wraps with illustrations by Thomas Taylor. The hardcover issue consisted of 500 copies, most of which went to libraries, with the softcover issue making up the bulk of the first edition for sale to the public with a print run of 5,150 copies. An excellent copy in wraps, with all the requisite points: published in London by Bloomsbury, with a complete numberline reading 10-1 on the copyright page, the list of equipment on page 53 lists "1 wand" twice, and the misprint "Philospher's" on the rear cover. Near Fine with bright covers, minor rubbing to corners and several light creases to the spine, several very faint creases to the covers, and the contents show the unavoidable toning to the paper. An excellent copy, housed in a custom quarter morocco red chemise case.
