A little light foxing to just a few pages but overall a very good copy, finely bound, by Riviere Bookbinder of Bath, in early half dark blue calf. Spine with five raised bands, each with gilt piping. Compartments lettered and ruled in gilt. Navy blue cloth on boards. All edges Marbled. Blue marbled endpapers. School prize plate from Charterhouse on the front pastedown endpaper, dated 1932, signed by Frank Fletcher, the headmaster and presented to G. C. Riall. School arms stamped in gilt to the front board. The spine fo the book is rubbed and darkened but still an attractive copy of the lovely book.

Spine with five raised bands, each with gilt piping. Compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Boards covered in Mid green cloth on boards, with the gilt stamp of Brooks School, Andover, Massachusetts seal on the front board. Top edge gilt. Plain green endpapers. Minor fading to the spine but overall a very good copy in an attractive fine binding. The binding is unsigned but is certainly the work of a master Bookbinder.

Neat ink title written on the front panel otherwise a fine copy of this scarce little edition, issued in Ross's Juvenile Library. A remarkable survivor. The work is undated but the British Library catalogue suggests a publication date of either 1814 or 1815, while the Bodleian Library estimates 1815.

Small bookseller label to the bottom of the front free endpaper. A fine and spotless copy of the book in publishers dark green cloth binding with gilt illustrations and lettering to the front board and spine. In the rare original illustrated dustwrapper, printed in red and green on beige paper. The red ink on the spine is faded and there are a couple of very small chips but overall this is a very smart example of the wrapper on a truly fine book. This first American edition uses sheets from the English edition, prnited by Ballantyne and Company in London. An uncommon survivor in such lovely condition.
