Harper's New Monthly Magazine, Volume XVIII, New York: Harper & Brothers, 1858-59.Quarto, pp. viii, 864, December 1858 to May 1859, 6 issues of the magazine bound in black morocco with silver lettering and rules to spine, fine modern covers with added endpages, darkened fore edges, near fine quality. Includes an anonymous 9-page article by an American visitor, who comments on manners, exchange rates and the huge opportunity to make money in trade. Also here are fashion plates, none in color. Size: Quarto. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
