A Fine tight copy in a Very Good unclipped dust jacket with creasing to the head of the spine and light sunning to the spine and edges. Jervis Anderson has written an engaging history of the Harlem neighborhood of New York from its shift from a white community in 1900 when blacks migrated north in large numbers until 1950 when the area lost its cultural edge. Anderson's account focuses on the literature, painting, music, clubs, the speakeasies, racketeers, and religious leaders. Illustrated.
