Washington DC: War Department, 1947. Softcover. Very Good. Printed stiff wrappers with cloth spine. Very good or somewhat better. 39 pp. Consists of reproductions of photographs and newspaper articles relating to the St. Lawrence Seaway project. A joint venture of the UnitedStates and Canada, it was a major canal and navigable channels project of 15 locks running between the Atlantic Ocean and the western end of Lake Superior. Ity was built along the St. Lawrence River in order to bypass several rapids and dams and to help generate hydroelectric power for Ontario. After years of inaction, the U.S. Congress finally approved the plan in 1954 and the seaway opened for large ships in 1959.

Los Angeles, CA: U. S. Engineer Office, 1946. Wraps. Good. Oblong folio. 37 black and white maps and charts showing sections of the propsed and existing sections of the highway through Guatemala to Panama. This is the plate volume only, no text. Printed paper wraps bound with rivets. The item has been folded once vertically with wear and loss to the covers. The maps have age toning but are mostly in very good condition, the vertical crease being more a bend on the maps than a crease. The size is 10 by 15 inches; some maps are larger and are folded at the right edges to fit. Only a good copy, but very scarce.
