London, Bradbury, Evans and Co, 1854. 1st Edition. 8vo. Ribbed cloth, gilt decorations to front, gilt titles and decorations to spine. Pp550, 17 full page hand coloured engravings on steel, 84 vignette engravings on wood within text. Binding is faded and worn with some splitting and small loss to spine edges. Hinges are week but holding. Neat, early ownership mark on front free endpaper. All text and illustrations are tightly bound some age toning to page edges, otherwise in tight and bright. The hand colouring on the illustrations skilfully completed.
