Original burgundy cloth lettered in gilt. Headbands worn, 1 inch splits to headband of vol.1. Inner joints cracked. Sellotape repairs to verso of folding maps with show through. Later bookplates on front free endpapers.Inscribed and signed by the author on the dedication page to the Prince De Joinville [ Francois D'Orleans, the 3rd son of Louis Philippe, King of France] & dated Feb. 21. 1855.
