Index to coloured illustrations, introduction by author stop black-and-white photographic frontispiece, the aforementioned colour photographs throughout along with black-and-white photographs decorate the text. Green coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured embossed titles to the front panel and back strip. Photographic dustwrapper with black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. Black and white photograph of author to the front fold over panel. This book is unique in its detail provision of: a descriptive, fully comprehensive list of all species, important varieties and hybrids of bulbs and perennials grown in the southern hemisphere. Full notes, for each plant, on cultivation and propagation, with ultimate heights and dimensions. Preferred situations, including sun or shade, moist or dry conditions, the soil type and drainage, for every plant as required. Generous coverage, including many natural colour plates, or illustrations for identification and garden guidance. Practical advice to the commercial grower of the more important bulbs and cut flowers. A guide to the months of the year when flowers named will begin to bloom. -- front fold over blurb. Softening of the back strip edges with rubbing of the book edges. The edges of the books show a little flecking. Very light age toning of the text block edges and pages with offset tanning and a little foxing to the end pages. Original bookseller's sticker to the lower right-hand corner of the front paste-down. Faint musty smell emanates when the pages are riffled. Chipping to the back strip edges and to the lower book corners. Rubbing of the dustwrapper edges and panels and there is 1/4 inch tear to the lower right-hand corner of the front panel. Some creasing to the top edge of the rear dustwrapper panel.
