George Bentham (1800 – 1884) was an English botanist, characterised by Duane Isely as "the premier systematic botanist of the nineteenth century". Bentham's book is an excellent compendium on the flora indigenous to the British Isles. In a blue cloth binding with gilt lettering to spine. Externally in lovely condition. Internally firmly bound with very bright and clean pages throughout, save for some foxing to the rear page. Fine

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
